Pamela and I were both lucky enough to wear the wedding dresses of our dreams on our wedding days. I think we can both attest to the fact that while we first envisioned a picture-perfect shopping experience, dress shopping can be stressful!! I've put together a few tips that can help take your stress level down a few notches, and help you find the perfect dress! 1. Do not, under any circumstance, try on a dress that's over budget. Why put yourself through that?? I had a consultant accidentally put me in a dress that was $1,500 over budget! She panicked when she found out how much the dress was, but thankfully I didn't love the dress, so crisis averted. But what if I had loved the dress? It's not worth the agony of trying to re-work numbers to try to afford a budget-busting dress. Trust me, you'll find something at your price point you'll love; resist the urge, and don't even try a dress on that falls outside of your price range. Try on those crazy dresses that you know … [Read more...]
Anti-Aging Skincare Before 30
I'm 27. I don't think I'm old yet. I don't really have any wrinkles yet, and I don't have bags under my eyes (again, yet). That being said, I wanted to start getting into the habit of using anti-wrinkle creams and eye serums as preventative measures. I did A LOT of research on which brand and product I was going to try. I have sensitive skin that breaks out easily (yeah, still at 27...). On top of having sensitive skin, I have very oily skin so I didn't want anything that would feel too heavy. I have a great manager at work, so at lunch one day I asked her what skin care system she used and she said she had been using Kate Somerville products for over 10 years and has loved her results. She is almost 36 and has NO wrinkles around her eyes or on her face. I was basically sold from there. I haven't had a chance to try all of her products yet, but the ones that I've tried I've loved. I waited about two months to write this review because I wanted to make sure I gave the … [Read more...]
(Mostly) D.I.Y. Bathroom Remodel
One of my guilty pleasures is getting sucked into Fixer Upper marathons on HGTV. My parents used to love HGTV and I hated it when I was younger! Now, I love looking at all of the real estate and getting decorating ideas from Chip and Joanna Gaines. After a long marathon of Fixer Upper, I got the remodeling bug, and decided that the hubs and I could totally redo our bathroom ourselves. We were actually able to do 90% of the things I wanted to update ourselves, but had to call in the professionals to replace the vanity top. Here is what we were able to do on our own: New Lighting This was the first thing we replaced. Our old bathroom had Hollywood lights across the top of a sheet mirror (that we also replaced), and it just made our bathroom look outdated. We searched high and low for a fixture that was as big as our old fixture, but finding something we liked was hard!! Once we found the fixture, Dave decided he could install the fixture himself with some help from YouTube. … [Read more...]
Wedding Week
Yayy its anniversary week! In case you didn't know Katie and I are both married. Our wonderful husbands take a lot of our photos now that we are separated by so many miles :( We also happened to get married 3 years apart on the same weekend. That's basically where the similarities stop because we both did our weddings completelydifferent, but in honor of our anniversary week I wanted to share some of my favorite moments from both weddings. Bridesmaids Blunders At my wedding poor Katie forgot the bow that went on her bridesmaid dress. She was so scared to disappoint me (I swear I was not that big of a bridezilla) that her mom offered to buy the bow a ticket on a plane to get to Chicago before the ceremony! (They did not let her, apparently its illegal). Dave ended up finding a bridal store with a sample bow and brought it along with a sewing kit to the church. All the while I could care less if she wore the bow or not. Do you see why I love her so much?! At Katie's wedding I … [Read more...]
