I do not think anything could be more beautiful than skiing in Vail. I am not an expert skier and definitely fell quite a few times, but nothing beats the view we got to take in every day. I forced George to go skiing for the first time two years ago. He has had 2 ACL surgeries on the same leg and still appeased his wife my midwest skiing. He even ventured with 3 of my girlfriends and dealt with our peak and pits of the trip the entire car ride home. Needless to say it was emotional, but he fell in love with the sport. The next year I had to opt out of skiing because I was only 8 month pregnant (nbd). I lodged it up with Katie's husband Dave (one of my best friends) who had zero desire to ski, despite his awesome Canadian Goose coat. We had the best time ever, but I was ready to hit the slopes again. This year I was not about to pass up an opportunity to hit the slopes. We started looking for beach vacations and fell victim to the fact that Zika is everywhere!!! Then, in a spur of … [Read more...]
Sideless Sweaters & Lace Up Shoes
My "sideless" sweater is the perfect way to be sexy during the winter. Its a great take on winter fashion and colors but still a way to show some skin. During the day I'll wear it with a full tank top underneath, but at night I go with a bandeau or crop and heels. It pairs with any pant you can imagine and I've personally worn it with leggings, jeans of every color (even pink) and a mini skirt. I love the high neck because it means no necklace. I can keep my every day necklace going and focus on accessorizing with a bracelet or cuff. My shoes are some of my new favorites. The lace up trend is not going anywhere soon. It gives more flare to your functional flats. I had a hard time finding a pair that I loved (that weren't over $500) and were also comfortable. When these came along I snagged them up. They are so comfortable I can run a mile in them and the gold accent on the heel makes them a little different than the typical pair you see on the streets. Italian Honeymoon – Part 3
Trieste After Venice, Dave and I hopped on another train bound for Trieste! Trieste is a lesser-known destination in Northern Italy, but it was beautiful! My dad suggested it, and said that there would probably be fewer Americans there, and that it would be cheaper than most of the places we intended to visit. He was right on both accounts! Trieste feels a lot different than the other areas of Italy I have visited. It has changed governing bodies a lot throughout its history, and you can definitely feel the different influences. Austrian influences are very strong in the region. There is actually a big debate on whether the wiener schnitzel was truly invented in Austria, or if the Austrian's got their recipe from the Trieste dish "cotoletta alla milanese." I tried the cotoletta when I was in Trieste, and I must say, it tasted exactly like wiener schnitzel in Austria. I don't think think we will ever truly know who invented it at this point, but I … [Read more...]
Italian Honeymoon – Part 2
Venice After Lake Como and Milan, Dave and I took a train to Venice! (BTW there are two train stations in Venice - one is in the heart of Venice, and one is further out. If you are staying in "downtown" Venice, make sure you travel to Venizia Santa Lucia.) Dave and I decided to be adventurous and try to take the public ferry down the grand canal to get to our hotel instead of taking a water taxi (we saved like 75 euros doing it this way). It worked out, but man, it was CROWDED!! We made it to our hotel, and were blown away by the views of the grand canal. It was stunning. We quickly dropped off our bags and started exploring. Venice is one of my favorite cities in the world. There is something so magical and unique about it. There are no streets--only canals and walkways. The walkways are a complete maze, and it's so much fun to get lost wandering. Dave and I ended up walking over 30 miles in two and half … [Read more...]
