George and I have been so blessed to have the most amazing friends and family. When we announced we were moving to Texas in 3 short months they were beyond supportive and rallied behind us offering love, support and going away parties. Summer in Chicago is the best (and really only) time to barbecue so that's what everyone did. I opted for a more girly dress for the first. George's cousin smoked meat and made us a South of the Border themed dinner with some of our close friends. There were chicken and beef tacos, chips and dips and margaritas. All home made! They always go over the top cooking and it is always beyond delicious. If you are looking to go the fiesta route here are some of my favorite must haves. Next Katie threw us the perfect Texas Bound party. She was beyond detail oriented and by far my favorite was the cake. She and her friend Ashely spent the entire night before sculpting it to perfection. We went red, white and blue and everyone showed up in … [Read more...]
Real Housewives Trivia Party
BAM! I decorated. I cooked. I made it nice! And we all had an amazing time at Real Housewives Trivia Night. While Katie hasn't fully jumped on the real housewives band wagon her husband, Dave, is all about the drama, turtle time and wigs. Dave, a different Katie and I keep a running text thread of our housewives obsession and decided a trivia party was necessary. I love champs and am married to a doctor so I thought Heather (Orange County) was the perfect fit. In retrospect I wish I had gone with someone a little over the top. My outfit could have been more fun. The winners of the night in the costume department were definitely Katie (Bethenny, New York) and Ashley (Vicki, Orange County). They COMMITTED! Our food of … [Read more...]
Christopher’s 1st Birthday
We had the best Batman themed birthday party ever for Christopher's first birthday. He was born 5 days after his cousin, Georgio, so naturally we did a joint birthday. The boys loved every minute. We started out with amazing invitations by Julie Hanan Designs. She created a newspaper holder to make the invites look like they were addressed to Gotham City residents. My favorite part was the "RSVP to Batman's Mom". Next step was the decor. We didn't want to spend a fortune on floral arrangements that would end up being thrown away so we did a small photo shoot on Superbowl Sunday (while all of the guys watched the pre show). The boys looked so adorable for the camera. We framed the pictures for the tables and let everyone take them home. We decorated both high chairs with garland and signs that said "one" and a giant number 1 balloon. Gio's was gold to recognize his golden birthday! Last but certainly not least we had the best dessert table! I had a few too many pretzel … [Read more...]
