I love to go on long even paced runs outside; however, I rarely have time to do that anymore. One of my good friends (who happens to be one of the most fit people I know) suggested I try this HIIT treadmill work out during my lunch break. Its perfect because the entire work out takes just over 16 minutes so you can do it as many times as the time you have. I usually go twice through. Some helpful hints to maximize the work out. Adjust your incline 15 seconds before the sprints.Adjust your speed 5 second before the sprints.Jump onto the sides after each sprint while the treadmill adjusts to the cool down rate.Don't get discourage by the speeds. Just adjust to your level and work your way up. … [Read more...]
Overcoming Fear of the Gym
Up until I graduated college, I was one of the very few lucky people who didn’t have to workout to stay stick thin. I think I weighed 110 pounds at the time, and could eat absolutely anything I wanted without gaining a pound. I’m talking late-night Steak-N-Shake runs, buckets of chips, McDonalds, ice cream, cookies--literally anything. My metabolism was my best friend. Fast forward a few more years, and my body started to change. I started to get “soft” and noticed my pants’ zippers were STRUGGLING to keep my pants up. This was my wakeup call. Like I said above, I never … [Read more...]
New Mom Work Out Inspiration
I can't begin to describe all of the ideas I had about how life would be with my newborn baby, but for fun here are a few: I will start eating healthy in the hospital and lose the weight in the first few weeks. (I didn't)I will work out while the baby naps and never let him watch TV. (I only get to work out if Mickey Mouse is on)I will wake up early to work out or work out after the baby goes to bed. (I sleep when baby sleeps...even if he goes to bed at 6:30 PM) Basically working out and finding a schedule was near impossible. Like with most things my inspiration to find time was buying cute new work out clothes. I swear by Natori and lululemon sports bras because they come in 32DD and actually work! I'm a huge fan of lululemon & Nike but I can't wait to branch out and try a few new brands I've been hearing about lately. Shop the size: Shirt 4 | Pants 4 | Shoes 7.5 | Bra 32DD Shop the look: lululemon Pace Rival … [Read more...]
Avocado Toast
One of my favorite breakfasts is Avocado Toast. I used to never eat breakfast, unless you count a latte on my way to work. I started working with a nutritionist after having my baby and realized how important it is to not only eat breakfast, but to take fifteen minutes for yourself in the morning. Ingredients: Whole Grain Toast | One Quarter Avocado Smashed on Toast | Fresh Baby Spinach | Fried Egg … [Read more...]
