We have Christopher’s second music class tomorrow and I am nervous! Being a mom in the city is much more stressful then I realized it would be. I had every intention to be this cool mom who strolls all over the city taking advantage of the parks, museums, libraries and free activities. I managed this wonderful dream until November when Christopher started to get opinions about what he wants to do (the 9 month mark, watch out) and I decided its too cold to venture out. Now that we’re almost at the end of January we have become shut ins and I relish every opportunity to get out of the house. I usually takes advantage when other people help (it really does take a village). Last Friday George left me the car (thank you to his wonderful co worker for driving him to work) and Christopher and I ventured to his first music class. My sure fire way to get us some winter activities. Here’s how it went. First as we were leaving the house Christopher needed a diaper and outfit change. We finally got in the car and he cried the entire 5 minute drive there. This may not seem like a long time, but wow do babies know how to cry from the lungs. Next we spent 15 minutes circling the same block for parking (was it really more convenient to have the car?). We made it to class in good spirits and about 10 minutes in Christopher decided to explore the room and meet friends. Yayy!! No…. He started poking kids in the eyes and pulling their hair. My kid is that kid! We left the room twice during class due to screams and tears and finally left 5 minutes early. I do not think I will ever forget this mom moment. All of that said it was the most wonderful experience getting out of our house for a winter activity and I refuse to give up on my “cool mom” dream. I am taking precautions for tomorrow including walking the mile to class. We are going to bundle up and have the best time ever! My Mackage coat is the warmest item in the world. I prefer not to wear fur so I opted for one without the fur collar, but my sister in law who loves fur went for the fur collar and I included it because its gorgeous too (I just with is was faux). My Sorel boots may have a heel, but you would never know it when you put them on. Wish us luck!!
