The Never Ending Search for "Mom Shoes": Spring Edition. In case you had not realized...I love heels like Oprah loves bread. "I LOVE THEM! I DON'T CARE WHO KNOWS IT!" That being said, chasing a one year old in them is becoming increasingly difficult. Christopher is now running, jump and climbing (stairs, shelves, stacked toys). I don't think I will ever give up my stilettos for evening wear, but day to day I am in desperate need of comfier heels. I found these Hinge 'Cora' Block Heels on sale at Nordstrom for $60 and they are beyond comfortable. I bought mine in Chestnut Suede. They come in 6 colors and I cannot wait to wear them this weekend in Dallas. Here are links to purchase these and other block heels I love at every price point. … [Read more...]
Hat Time
I have not gotten enough use of my J Crew Factory suede fedora that I love so much. I was so excited to wear it for warmth (sort of) and style in Vail. It was a great winter accent piece for one of our dinners out. I paired it with black jeans and a white sweater for a monochromatic look. … [Read more...]
Winter Mountain White
How beautiful are the mountains in Vail, Colorado? I seriously could not get over the breathtaking views everywhere you turned. Our hotel room all the way through the village to the amazing skiing. Every step was stunning. It inspired me to match the snow in an (almost) all white ensemble. I tried to pack light so my boots and coat were black. (My husband will laugh at this and point out that packing light means a suit case that weighs 49.9 pounds - under the limit!). I love a baggy off the shoulder sweater. It makes the look a little sexier while still being covered up and winterized. The white jeans are a pair of my favorites and soooo comfortable. I accented the look with a lot of silver jewelry for an icier feel. All in all I basked in the fact that Spring is almost here but I get to enjoy a few more winter looks before its time to get in shape for Summer. The sweaters below come in both black and white. They're similar styles and also by free people so they'll have the slouchy … [Read more...]
Reversible Vest
First thing first. I don't wear fur, but I am never against faux fur. I am obsessed with my C&C California reversible vest. It's leather on one side and faux fur and fuzzy on the other. I add it over more casual outfits to dress them up. It does not offer much functionality on the warmth front, but that's what a coat is for. I wore this outfit for dinner out in Vail. We ate at so many amazing restaurants (reviews to come) including Sweet Basil, Swiss Chalet, The 10th and Mountain Standard. A few of these places were extremely popular choices and I learned a trick from my friend Monica on getting those reservations. Open table allowed for reservations 60 days out. I set my alarm for midnight 60 days before each reservation, woke up in the middle of the night and quickly snagged a spot. By the time my actual alarm went off for the day (at 6 AM) the restaurants were completely booked. It was insane. Thank god I knew the trick of the trade, although the first night I may have … [Read more...]
