This dress was such a great find. I was out shopping with my mom for a dress to wear to Christopher's Baptism and found this. Thank god she forced me to buy it because its my new perfect for fall dress. The bow tie around the neck is my favorite part but the bottom is pretty amazing too! There are a few different ways to accessorize and the hat is going to be my fall go to. In case you didn't read in my post on the (Not) Leather Skirt, I love a neck detail that means I don't have to search high and low for a necklace to match my outfit. It's such a fun trend this fall. Not to mention, the bow around the neck ties nicely into the bow on the shoes. My second favorite feature of the dress is the pleating. Everywhere! It makes it so whimsy and feminine. I have an olive complexion that pairs with this hunter green color very well and feel great wearing it, but it can be an overwhelming color when you think about camo and all of the big green parkas you see in the fall. The pleats along … [Read more...]
(Not) Leather Skirt
It has been a huge goal of mine this fall to find a faux leather skirt that looks good and has the leather pattern on the front and back. I hate when it changes to a stretchy material in the back or has panels, but I also do not have the funds to buy a full leather skirt for $700+. This Express skirt goes with so many different tops and is perfect for dinners, work or day. I paired is with a fun patterned tank for an edgier work look. Another great wear to work is a dark sweater tucked in. It's not something people normally try but it looks effortlessly chic with a skirt like this. I chose the sleeveless patterned top because the no necklace neck detail trend is one of my favorites this season. In case you haven't noticed I like to re wear my few classic jewelry pieces, and this is a great way for a neck detail without adding a new necklace to your cart. My YSL booties offer a pointed toe to make the look even more rock star, however any leather shoe would go. There are so many options … [Read more...]

You Can Never Have Too Many Dusters
I realize dusters have typically been Katie's MO this month, but I'm getting a turn now. I used to rock dusters (and call them daytime robes) in grade school. I had a killer gray one that I gave away and wish I hadn't. It's wishful thinking that it would still fit. Instead I will have to settle for this caramel colored one. Good thing its still so cute! The duster has the perfect pocket placement for chilly days and the color goes with just about any fall outfit you can imagine. I paired it with Burberry sunglasses that really tie it in, my go to J Brand jeans and my new favorite turtle neck. Most important to the outfit are my "cool mom shoes" as discussed with another awesome mom I know. We realized at a recent wedding that we are now purchasing shoes a little more practically. Can I carry a baby with these on? Can I run around after him? Can I wear them on no sleep without toppling over? These checked every requirement! They are cute and high like I want but the thick heel means I … [Read more...]
