I had the absolute best time being a part of Katie's wedding (more on her gorgeous dress and event to come!). Her (now) mother in law threw the most beautiful rehearsal dinner and we were lucky enough to be included. There was a guitar player, specialty mojitos, amazing food and the ambiance could not be beat. I did make the mistake of going long sleeve for August in St. Louis, but sometime fashion calls. I wore this L'Agence dress and did a Kim Kardashian part in my hair for one of my favorite looks yet! Italian Style Pizza in Chicago
After spending my honeymoon in Italy, and eating my weight in pizza, I now consider myself a connoisseur of pizza (if we are being honest though, I considered myself one before the trip as well =P ). Italian style pizza is definitely different than Chicago style. No deep dish in Venice! Instead, Italian style pizza is closer to hand tossed. The middle is very thin and gooey and is surrounded by a thick crust that crisps just a little in the wood-fired oven (see below for a picture of what I'm talking about). In short, it's heaven on a plate. Naturally, I can't fly to Italy every time I get a craving for this incredible pizza, so I did a little research and found a list of 5 pizza joints in Chicago that specialize in Neapolatin style pizza. (Special shout-out to Steve Dolinsky for doing the legwork of finding these hidden gems.) 1. Dinotto1551 N Wells St, Chicago, IL 60610312-202-0302www.dinotto.com 2. Katie’s Prada Obsessions
When on our honeymoon in Italy, my husband decided to spoil me rotten with not one, but two Prada purchases. When we got to Milan, we bee-lined to the Duomo Cathedral to take in all of its magnificence. On our way there we couldn't help but notice the Galleria Vittorio Emanuel--the most beautiful shopping area I've ever seen (see below). Since we were in Milan, it only seemed right to stop in Prada (headquartered in Milan).... After debating for about an hour between these two beautiful wallet/clutches, the hubby said I should just have both (I knew I married him for a reason). I love the camel clutch. It's so elegant and classic, and I know I will use it for decades. The blue wallet with the adorable bow is so stinking cute! I love the rich blue color too. It's a fun wallet that I'm sure I'll be using as a clutch as well (I made sure my phone fit inside before I bought it!). Shop this look: Classic Prada Wallet | Bow Prada Wallet … [Read more...]
Warm Weather Travel Outfit
There are a million posts online about what to wear when traveling, but they are almost always geared towards the colder months and destinations. When I was deciding what I was going to wear on the plane to Italy for my honeymoon, I knew I wanted two things: to be comfortable and to look decent when I landed. I thought up a lot of outfits that would satisfy one of those criteria, but I had a harder time finding one that did both. Then, I found this outfit! It's pretty simple, but I gotta say, I really do love it. I've paired some striped linen pants with a basic white tank top and floppy hat (to hide the plane hair). The linen pants were a lightweight alternative to shorts, which can be uncomfortable to travel in (meaning your bare legs don't touch the plane's scratchy seat). Note these pants are a little long, and I probably should have hemmed them before my trip.
