It has been an insaneweek in my house (or houses). Our last week in Chicago was filled with amazing going away parties, family time, George’s graduation and a surprise visit from his Aunt from Greece! We are so beyond grateful for all of the love and support people have shown us. I swear you would think that we were moving across the country instead of a few states away. Needless to say the people in our lives are wonderful.
Starting with Katie & Dave for throwing this gorgeous Texas themed party.
To George’s parents throwing us a beautiful backyard barbecue.
George & I finally hit the road to Texas the day after the BBQ and started our 14 hour drive at 4:30 AM. Anyone who lives in Chicago knows you have to leave by then to avoid major rush hour traffic, and in my case a 14 hour drive with a very upset husband who hates traffic.
Initially I had wanted to share a post about our drive down and the fun things we did, but I didn’t realize the only things we would do were stop at gas stations. I definitely made it a lot more glamorous in my head. 🙂 About half way through we decided to push it to the limit and drive the last 6 hours without stops to get to Dallas. I slept while George drove…the benefits of being a passenger.
We arrived in Dallas to warm weather and so much hospitality. Our new place (photos to come) overlooks the pool and feels like a resort. Exhausted we were so grateful for the only two people we know here to cook us dinner before a quick Target run – this turned into roughly 10 target runs in 5 days and I don’t want to even say how much money later!
George started work immediately and I set up everything in the house I could until our furniture arrived 4 days after us. Has anyone else ever used movers? Ours were wonderful, but waiting a week and a half to see your bed again is not fun!! We had an air mattress and paper plates wooo! Once our furniture arrived we went for it. By 2 am you never would have guessed we had just moved in. Just in time for my parents to arrive with Christopher. He got to fly. On my dads lap. Eating snacks and reading books. Its good to be a one year old.
My parents helped us explore our new city with a visit to the JFK Museum and Aquarium. We are truly loving everything about our new city and I can’t wait to continue to explore and tell everyone all about it!
